Any criminal charge is serious, but a matter that directly affects your family can be devastating. The charge alone generally means that you’ve been ordered to leave the home and have limited or no contact with your family. The Crown lawyers may be unwilling to drop the charges even when there’s limited evidence because they are under instructions not to do so. And the criminal charge can be caught up in other proceedings such as divorce or custody disputes. It is a terrible, terrible situation.
I help people charged with domestic abuse and assault to proceed in a way that keeps their lives on track. There may be no quick answers or easy solutions but it’s always important to keep your eyes on the light at the end of the tunnel. I am sensitive to the very personal nature of these sorts of charges and you will always be treated professionally in my office, no matter the accusations made against you.
When you don’t know where to turn or how to deal with the serious charges that are facing you, you deserve at least one person who is with you all the way. Even when your own family is torn apart over the situation, you still need an advocate. That’s why I got into law in the first place, and I’m proud to be that advocate.
